Loved reading this โ as always with your work. It reminded me of something my teenage daughters learn at school as theyโre about to step into senior years and beyond. Theyโre made to repeat the words (much to their dismay and dramatic eyeโrolls), โI am enough.โ As cheesy as it sounds in this age of distraction and sensory overload, itโs probably the most important thing to keep reminding ourselves of โ that profoundly simple truth.
Thank you, Venkatesh, for your kind comment and for sharing that story. I love that those wonderful words are part of what your daughters are learning (I can just imagine the eye-rolls! My own daughter is at uni now, but I remember those years well). And I couldnโt agree more. It really is the most important truth we can remind ourselves of.๐โจ
I love this. Yes, that is enough. I think we have been trained to think "More" for so many years. It's wonderful to stop and appreciate enoughness. It's a nice place to be.
Thank you, Wendy. Thatโs so true, we have been trained in that way, and as you say, it is nice to stop and appreciate where we are. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. ๐
Yes I do. I think I remember you saying you do it every morning. Thatโs fantastic, Donna. Itโs amazing in so many ways (as you already know, of course!). I only started earlier this year, I really like it. ๐
So trueโthereโs so much emphasis on doing and becoming. Itโs such a relief when we can recognize the quiet power of simply being. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.๐ฉท
I'm so jealous. This mentality and mindshift is what I'm working on. For so long I've been in the scarcity mindset/productivity mindset/the grind mindset; always working towards something in the future...yet missing the precious present moment. It's an active practice in my life and it's a very difficult habit/pattern/mentality (for me) to break. Taking it day by day...This post give me hope. ๐
Thanks so much for sharing. Scarcity is something most of us are conditioned to believe in. This reflection came from a moment in time, and Iโm glad I wrote it down because the feeling was so palpable thenโyet in my experience, it comes and goes.
Whatโs shifting for me is allowing myself to really feel and enjoy it when itโs there, without making it a problem when itโs not (which is often!). Iโve noticed a quiet shift toward trusting it will returnโsomething just beyond hope, but not quite a knowing. ๐
I've been thinking along similar lines lately Sue - retirement for me has brought a lot of questions about purpose and direction. I'm learning that I'm allowed to just quietly enjoy this lovely life I've been blessed with. I have a blog post about all this circulating in my head atm and your thoughts add into that. Thank you.
I love knowing we've been thinking along similar lines lately.โบ๏ธ
You've captured it beautifully: "...I'm allowed to just quietly enjoy this life I've been blessed with." Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I look forward to reading your blog post.
Hi Sue - I've decided to stick with just my blog and not post to Substack for the foreseeable future - so if you'd like to keep up with my posts, feel free to subscribe in my blog's sidebar. :)
Thank you for letting me know. I can understand why youโve decided that, you have a wonderful, established community on your blog. I will subscribe. โบ๏ธ

You do Tai Chi? Me too, every morning ๐

Thanks so much for sharing this, @Brenda.๐๐ฉท
Thereโs so much noise around constantly improving, achieving, becoming - but rarely do we hear that just being is worthy too.
So trueโthereโs so much emphasis on doing and becoming. Itโs such a relief when we can recognize the quiet power of simply being. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.๐ฉท

I feel same recently! Healing time, wrapping up a 9 yr cycle!
I love that! Cheering you on as you wrap up that cycle and step into whatโs next. ๐ฉท๐
